Urgup, Turkey ~ May 31, 2008

Jon and I sat down just outside one of the hotels in Urgup (another town in Cappadocia) to take a look at the map because we were having some trouble finding the right path up to the old part of town. Soon I found a friendly stray cat in my lap who strangely resembled my Rocky so much that I began to get a bit homesick. Call it fate if you will but moments later a guy walks up to us and asks where we are from...turns out he is from Chicago and he and his wife live in Logan Square AND they are collectively known as FFM--a local Chicago electro house band. They currently play at several clubs downtown, including Sound Bar, but they have also played internationally on several occasions. They are in Cappadocia because they have been invited to play at a private VIP event in Rose Valley sponsored by a local Turkish liquor company. We were completely psyched to meet people from Chicago and more so because we finally found out what was happening at the mysterious white tents we saw while hiking through Rose valley the day prior. Even better yet they were opening for Boy George!!! (Too bad he is banned from entering the U.S. right now.) We tried to convince them to get us in as their groupies or band bitches but it was a VIP concert which was going to be a surprise to even the Turkish celebrities in attendance....bummer!
In any event, it was awesome hanging out with Adam, Lindsay and Michaela from FFM and feeding the turtle in the courtyard!

Looking forward to catching one of FFM's shows in Chi town...if you want to listen to their latest tunes go to www.beatport.com (Q Studios/Sombionx/FFM)
