KL Good Friends and Good Food

Donielle and I made it to our final destination in Malaysia before catching our international flight to Dubai and then on to Turkey. Our friend Vanan arranged to have his two sisters Sagun and Manju show us the sights, sounds and tastes of Kuala Lumpur. We learned one of the most important things about being Malaysian is eating all the time! As Sagun said "The Chinese will travel to whatever neighboorhood in whatever place if it will guarantee they will have a good meal!" We only spent two nights in KL but in that time we were able to sample traditional Chinese Dim Sum, wonderful Indian dishes, street stall Malaysian food and some of the freshest seafood I have ever eaten.

Of course a night in KL wouldn't be complete without stopping and viewing the spectacular Petronas Towers. For those of you who forgot, the Petronas Towers replaced the Sears Tower as the world tallest building during the late 90's. They are an incredible accomplishment and a shining monument at night. Where the Sears tower is clunky and stark the Petronus Towers are shapely and light. One can only hope that our hometown of Chicago gets it act together by building the Chicago Spire, giving the city a 21st century skyscraper that can answer the new towers in China, Malaysia, Dubai and elsewhere.

After a couple of days of eating, drinking and partying we had to say goodbye to our new friends. We hope that when they visit the US some day that we can show them an equally good time in the states. Thanks to Sagun and Manju!!!!
